At oil and gas production site and refinery plant, Veolia treats and reuses water. Upstream, by reinjecting the wastewater produced in the extraction of oil and gas into the reservoir, we increase oil and gas recovery. Downstream, the water and steam used in the conversion of crude oil to petroleum products result in wastewater. It is then separated and treated onsite, and recycled to achieve "zero liquid discharge".​ This circular management of resources is not only in line with the environmental standards but also increases the performance of the oil and gas facilities.

Tianjin Hejia Veolia Hazardous Waste Integrated Treatment Center is an advanced showcase project for hazardous waste treatment and recycling.  It is China's only high-tech integrated treatment facility. This national demonstration project is a one-stop site that integrates incineration, sterilization, physical and chemical treatment, secure landfill, and resource recycling. Its annual treatment capacity reaches 57800 metric tons of waste, and it can treat 48 out of 49 types of hazardous waste classified by the Chinese government; the only hazardous waste which are not handled are explosives.
