Kai Tak District Cooling Occupational Health and Safety Excellence won regional recognition in the field of facility management

In recognition of the continues effort in harnessing and upholding a health and safe working environment, Kai Tai District Cooling System Phase 2 Works has awarded the Certificate of Excellence - Asia Pacific Best Occupational Health and Safety Award at the Asia Pacific Facility Management Awards 2018 Presentation Ceremony.

Organized by International Facility Management Association (Hong Kong Chapter), Asia Pacific Facility Management Awards 2018 advocates to advance the professional discipline of facility management in the region. Asia Pacific Best Occupational Health and Safety Award 2018 confers to the best-managed occupational health and safety program in facilities management within the region. It strictly examines facility management on their occupational safety and health policy setting, management commitment, roles and responsibilities, training, program and effectiveness. Kai Tak District Cooling System, project managed by Hong Kong District Cooling DHY Joint Venture (HKDCDHYJV) has obtained an excellent result during the assessment and awarded Certificate of Excellence - Asia Pacific Best Occupational Health and Safety Award 2018.

Kai Tak District Cooling has a record of 100% reliability and zero accident since 2014, credits to its comprehensive management system and the management team’s prerequisite leadership. Ir. Chris Chong, Managing Director of HKDCDHYJV expresses his gratitude for his team’s effort, “We have been endeavouring to minimize accidents at work and emphasize occupational health and safety. Our management team will continue to work hand in hand with our frontline staff to create an accident-free working environment”.

Kai Tak District Cooling System is the first-of-its-kind energy efficient air-conditioning system invested and implemented by the Hong Kong Government. Commissioned by HKDCDHYJV, Phase 1 and 2 of the project now operated by the Hong Kong District Cooling Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Veolia.
